Today I am sharing a card I made for Thanksgiving

with products from the new Close to my Heart catalog.

As we move out of summer and into fall and the holidays, I like to look around and take note of all the blessings I have in my life.  I know that as the children are going off to school and the leaves are beginning to fall, that Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are right aroung the corner.

What a wonderful time to count my blessings and prepare my heart for the the season of love and thankfullness just ahead of us.

         I made this card with the new Workshops on the Go Huntington Scrapbooking kit, It has 2 ea of 3 pattered papers, 10 sheets of coordinated cardstock, an exclusive stamp set only available with this workshop, an assortment of 4 printed canvas shapes & 6 printed wooden spool tops, Brown and Tan Sparkle Rhinestones and an instructional brochure to complete a 2 page layout.
I love how close to my heart always puts a coordinating pattern on the back of the bottom strip of their papers, I used 2 of these on the edges of my card, the strip to the left I added some bling and the right strip Icolored the leaves with our markers and then placed inside the card and cut the front a little short so that it would show. The strip on the right front is a piece of card stock that I stamped with leaves from the same kit.

I stamped the wood grain in Sweet Leaf, and the sentiments are stamped in Slate from the Count Your Blessings stamp set. I added one canvas shape and one button top also from the kit.

I love how all of our products coordinate together to make a beautiful card. I am hoping that whoever receives this will enjoy having it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Birthday cards

I am excited to share some cards I made with some of the goodies I purchased during ShopHop. (More on that subject later)

I purchased a package of decoupage butterflies that were already die cut in layers. I picked out some patterened paper that I liked and used my own glue,foam squares, flowers and ink to distress the edges.

I made the cards out of card stock that I had on hand, and them assembelled them adding my own little touches.

I hope that my friends who recieved them will enjoy them as much as I have.  I really do love making special things for the special people in my life.

Fast Fact Friday #3 1/20/12

1. What was the last movie you saw in the theater?

The last movie I saw in the theater was Courageous, we went with a group of people from church. Someone donated tickets for us to all go together. It was a wonderful movie. I highly recommend it.

2. What was the last movie you saw at home?

The last movie  I saw at home was "the Help", on New Years Eve, I watched it with Mom S., Elmer & Lynette, LV and her sister Candy, and Jeff. I had seen it in the theater with Brent a couple monthes earlier. I really enjoyed it both times.

3. Who is your favorite movie star?

Brenden Frasier, sorry honey, I will always love you and be attracted to you more but he is my favorite from way before I even knoew you.

4. What movie can you watch over and over again and not get sick of?

I'm not sure, my favorite movie is "a River Runs Through It". I guess I can watch it over and over. But what I can really watch is the TV show, Friends. That I never get sick of.

5. What movie will you never watch again?

Fast Fact Friday #2

1. How do you like your chocolate?

I like all chocolate, at least I think I do, I am sure there is something out there I wouldn't like. But the question is, How do I like it, and I would say that my favorite is with carmel and/or almonds. Dark or Milk, both are awesome.

2. What dessert or treat can you never say "no" to?

Probably chocolate, or pumpkin ice cream at Trader Joes, got to have but only during the holidays.

3. What is your favorite meal?

My favorite meal, well kind of like my favorite color, depends on how I feel. I LOVE food, all kinds, One of my favorites is Dim Sum. Love to go there and get to try lots of differant things. I do however thing that Popcorn is a perfect food, I can eat it close to everyday. BUT it has to be made from scratch, on the stove, no microwave stuff in this house. However if I am not at home I can eat just about any kind of popcorn. Its all good.

4.Which food do you dislike the most?

Creamed Corn, always have, just yucky yucky yucky!

5. What do you think the healthiest thing is in your pantry right now?

Whole wheat pasta, Extra virgin olive oil, vitamins

This is Me challange #1

1. How long have you lived at your current residence?

I have lived in this house for 12 years this month. This is the first home that I was able to purchase on my own, so it is really the first house that was actually my home. This is also the longest I have lived anywhere besides my childhood home that I was in for 18years. Getting closer to that number though. I lived in some pretty cool places through the years but there is something pretty special about having my own place I can do anything I want to. Maybe someday I'll actually get it all finished!

2.  What is the exact shade of your favorite color?

Wow, my favorite color, I am not sure that I have one, I really do like purples, blues and greens. Especially those cool limey, Olivey greens. and I love beachy colors. But I think my favorites change throughout the year. I love the different seasons and holidays. Christmas reds and greens, Winter blues, Valentine's day pinks and reds, St. Patrick's day greens, Easter pastels, Springtime flowers, 4th of july red white & blues, Summer blues, Fall browns golds and orange. I love to change the towels and my mantel depending on the time of the year. So I guess today I am LOVING the colors of Love, reds, pinks, black  and white.

3.  How much sleep do you get each night?

I went for years getting not enough, maybe 5 or 6 hours a night. Now I do not have a set bedtime or time to get up, so sometimes I stay up way too late and get up early. and other days I cant drag my self out of bed and have really been oversleeping. I find that too much sleep is not good for me as I drag thru the day instead of getting up and getting going.

4.  Have you ever been able to do the splits?

No, I have NEVER been able to do the splits, and I could never even touch my toes. When I was younger my dance teacher  was surprised that I was not more limber since I was a pretty decent dancer. Years later I started taking Yoga and I was amazed that I was able able to touch my toes over time. Maybe if I had stuck with it I would have learned how to do the splits too. I guess its never too late, maybe I should start again???? 

5.  What is your favorite breakfast?

My favorite breakfast is probably waffles, I love waffles, and pancakes. Freshly made and warm, Yumm. But I probably start more days with an egg and a piece of toast or tortilla. It is easier and healthier. Next would be yogurt with fruit and almonds, or granola.

Today I am thankful for Gods healing and for good doctors.

I have two friends who had surgery today. My dear friend Vicky's husband Dan had his knee worked on this morning. He has had a lot of pain for some time now and they finally found a Doctor who was able to help. Praise God for Doctors who know what needs to be done, they were able to clean out his knee and he should be able to move again well and with out pain. I am so happy for both of them, and I look forward to full healing.

My other friend, Sylvia also had surgery on her thyroid today. We went to the hospital this afternoon to visit her. She looked so beautiful even after having been operated on. She was all smiles and looked amazing. Sylvia actually always looks amazing, she is one of the most beautiful women I know and I am honored to be her friend.

Today I am thankful to my friends who own 2 very cute stores in Montrose CA. They have a gift store named Mountain Rose that sells the most wonderful items to decorate your home with. And they also have a wonderful clothing store by the name of Revelation.

Several years ago I started working for them on a very part time basis. I usually help at Mountain Rose during Christmas time, however I have been honored to be asked to help at Revelation a few months ago and then again today.

This store had such cute trendy clothes, they really go out of their way to pick out special things you don't find other places. In addition, since Carol and Mary are both tall like me and about the same age as me, they choose thing that are perfect for me.

Being tall I have a lot of trouble finding pants that are long enough and come up high enough. Well I have been able to get quite a few pairs of pants that are long enough and cover up the areas I wish to have covered. They also specialize in those long tunic style tops that are so flattering to my body type.

I was blessed today to come home with another great stash of clothing, along with a great scarf. But even more special is being able to spend time with Mary, who is so much fun. Tomorrow night I get to help out with their Christmas open house at Mountain Rose which promises to also be a lot of fun and get my creative juices flowing to decorate for Christmas.

Today I am thankful that I got to spend the weekend with my wonderful friend Laura and her 2 beautiful children.

I have known Laura since she was about 12 or 13 years old. I have watched her grow from a beautiful young girl who loved the Lord. I watched her as one of the kids down the street in my neighborhood. I remember seeing her perform in her high school drama production. I remember her at camp as a teenager, and a member of the church youth group that I helped lead. And I remember when she and Daniel came to see me at work to tell me they were engaged.

I got the joy of helping her on her wedding day, and watching her marry the man of her dreams. Then 2 years later when I got married she decorated, helped with my shower, made all the flowers and helped make it a wonderful day.

I have watched her grow from a newlywed to a comfortably married woman, to a new mom to a mother of 2. I have watched her grow from a leader amongst her peers, to a youth leader, to a woman who serves God in ways I can not imagine.

She has an amazing sense of style, is a good cook, is very creative and an amazing photographer.

In the last several years Laura has become one of my dearest friends, she has been with me through good times and not so good. She was there for me when we lost 3 parents in one year. She showed up at the hospital the day that I was in my accident even though she was just off the plane from Poland.

I am honered to call the little girl down the street one of my dearest friends.

On the first day of the month I am thankful to my wonderful husband who allows me the priviledge of spending the day at one of my favorite Scrapbook stores in Vista, CA, "Ever After". Jeff works in San Diego once a month and I usually ride along with him. Today he is teaching a class so he has dropped me off and is letting me spend the day working on projects.

I love to scrapbook and craft, and right now I am so far behind that I am enjoying having a whole day to focus. I started an album to give my friend for her son's first year,  along with  a baby shower album. Well he is now almost 2 years old, and it is time to get it done. So I am having lots of fun working on it.

In addition, tuesdays there is a great group of woman who come to Ever After scrapbooks to work on their own projects and spend time together. I have met them in the past and just got lucky today to be here on the same day.

So today I am thankful for my husband and my love of crafting.

Thankfulness in November

I have been atempting to start this blog for quite a while. And have been so overwhelmed that I didn't know where to start. So I have decided to start with the month of November, since this is the month we celebrate Thanksgiving.

I am going to blog each day this month about something that I am thankful for. I am hoping that this will help me focus on the amazing things in my life and help me to get more direction on what God wants for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. It is a work in progress, as am I. I am learning as I go.
